Meet Alex
Alex represents millions of young people navigating emotional wellbeing challenges every day.According to the CDC, 40% of U.S. high school students report persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness. Alex is one of them—but Alex represents so many more.
Everyone knows an Alex.
They might be your child, sibling, friend, classmate, teammate, or neighbor. Young people everywhere are navigating challenges that can feel overwhelming, often without the tools or support they need.
WAAM is here to help.
We’re working to put music-based tools and resources into the hands of young people, helping them better understand their emotions, strengthen their mental wellbeing, and navigate life’s challenges.
Young people like Alex already know that music affects how they feel. WAAM knows this too. Music can be more than something we listen to, it can be a tool for connection, expression, and emotional wellbeing.
That's why WAAM creates intentional, evidence-informed tools and experiences that help young people use music to improve their lives.
Whether through a screen, a classroom, or a songwriting session, WAAM brings music-based tools and experiences directly to young people, helping them navigate emotional challenges and build lifelong skills for wellbeing.
Our work is fueled by the Music Impact Council, a world-class coalition of clinicians, researchers, and industry visionaries ensuring our tools are grounded in the latest neuroscience.
There are many ways to be part of WAAM’s mission. Whether you choose to support our work, volunteer your time, share our message, stay connected, or bring WAAM into your own community, every action helps us expand access to music-based tools for youth emotional wellbeing.
