Tres is the Founder and CEO of The Rights, an early-stage company developing technology to simplify music licensing. He was previously Executive Vice President, Business Affairs at iHeartMedia where he was responsible for strategic dealmaking with the music and entertainment industries from 2011 through 2020. Tres served as general counsel on the management team of successful digital music startup, Thumbplay, and was instrumental in its acquisition by iHeartMedia in 2011. He also held roles at early digital music retailer eMusic, Sony BMG and Zomba Group. Tres regularly consults and lectures on music industry topics and devotes significant time to mentoring and education. Tres actively supports Musicians On Call (advisory board), Jazz House Kids (advisory board), Appalachian State University, Presbyterian Church of Upper Montclair (ruling elder), and served on the board of directors of the Radio Music Licensing Committee from 2013-2020. Tres is a musician, songwriter, and always enjoys a good jam.
